Psych-idyllic Songs in Empty Space…

Oh!Mega Album cover plain

Sunyasana (pronounced ‘shunya-saana’) is the latest production and project from the currently quarantined StandYourSound Studios.

So far, this album is the odd one out in our collection: the eclectic mix of Punk, Metal, Hip Hop, Jazz and Garagerock that graces our speakers through the likes of Gompa or Skirt is more or less completely absent here.

Welcome to galaxy Tri-Kaya-Z64!

We tag along with our unknown protagonist as he hurtles through space at ten times light speed. He encounters enchanted worlds of garden mazes, space bars, pretty aliens and sunflower equinoxes. On his journey he is forced to make a decision: should he stay at the space bar and wait for the pretty alien, or should he venture through the super-black hole known as ‘Dark Bliss’?

His journey leads him to the queen of the universe who keeps her inhabitants’ hopes and dreams squashed under her feet. With the help of the boundless love of the galactic Bodhisattvas, he is able to subdue her. But not without consequences….

Anyone with some knowledge of Yoga or meditation may recognise the words sunya and asana. Meaning ’empty postures’ but alluding to shunyata – the ultimate nature of reality, emptiness, in Buddhism. This project began way back in 2013 after one of the musicians returned from Asia. This recording is loaded with self-made samples, analogue synths and detuned guitars; with a massive sound-stage, galactic vibes and not without a few short blasts of extreme metal (of course), Sunyasana: Tri-Kaya D64 is the perfect record and soundtrack for these forlorn quarantine times.
